Welcome to our ministerial experience scheme for traditional catholics based in  Morecambe.

The scheme is housed in St Martin’s House, the former Clergy House of St Martin’s Westgate.

The Church of England and the Diocese of Blackburn are committed to growing the number of vocations to ordained ministry.  Moreover, we are also committed to mutual flourishing as described in the Five Guiding Principles.

However, it is widely recognised that traditional catholic vocations to ordained ministry have declined in recent years.  This increases the need to invest in, nurture and encourage vocations to ordained ministry from within the catholic tradition.

This pastoral assistant scheme provides an opportunity for those considering ordained ministry within a traditional catholic context to immerse themselves in the life of a busy parish.

Due to the implications of COVID, we are looking to a flexible start to this project in 2020, sometime in the Autumn or possibly Advent.

Could our Pastoral Assistants' scheme be for you?
